ECU Pro Tune PR-8 EVO

What is the PR-8 EVO ECU

The PR-8 EVO is the evolution of Pro Tune's flagship ECU, developed for high-performance applications that demand maximum precision, processing speed and extensive expansion capability.

Designed for everything from naturally aspirated builds to high-power turbo engines, the PR-8 EVO offers complete fuel and ignition management, bringing together advanced features for racing and high-performance vehicles.

The new generation features 8 native ignition outputs, providing greater flexibility for applications that require individual coil control, and 2 independent CAN buses, allowing simultaneous integration with dashes, power modules, expansions, data acquisition systems and other compatible devices.

Who it's for

Designed for V8, V10 and V12 engines, extreme racing builds, professional drag racing, stock car and GT3 builds. It is the choice when the engine needs bank-to-bank management (separate even and odd banks), multiple variable valve timing systems and simultaneous reading of thermocouples on each bank for precise mixture control.

What's new

  • 8 native ignition outputs, providing greater flexibility for applications that require individual coil control.
  • 2 independent CAN buses, enabling simultaneous communication with dashes, power modules, expansions and other compatible devices.
  • Updated hardware, developed to deliver even more performance, stability and expansion capability.
  • It retains all the advanced features and strategies that established the PR-8 as Pro Tune's flagship ECU.

Main features

  • Dual built-in lambda/O2 sensor controller (Bosch LSU 4.2, LSU 4.9 and NTK)
  • Dual built-in thermocouple conditioner
  • Dual boost control
  • Quad variable valve timing control
  • Dual electronic throttle (drive-by-wire) control
  • Launch Control
  • Traction control
  • Power Shift — flat shift
  • Anti Lag
  • Asymmetric ignition

Frequently asked questions

What type of engine is the PR-8 EVO designed for?

High-performance V8, V10 and V12 engines, drag racing, stock car, GT3 and any application that requires bank-to-bank management with separate thermocouples and lambda sensors per bank.

How many pre-wired harnesses does the PR-8 EVO need?

The PR-8 EVO uses two connectors: 48-pin Molex (primary) + 23-pin AMP Seal (secondary). Complete pre-wired harness options are available, or you can purchase the harnesses separately to suit your application.

What is the Connect Box CB-1204 and why does the PR-8 EVO support it?

The Connect Box CB-1204 is a CAN-based input expander. Even with 26 native inputs, extreme builds may need more readings — the CB-1204 solves that.

What's the difference between the PR-8 EVO and the PR-4 EVO?

The PR-8 EVO is for larger engines (V8/V10/V12) with per-bank readings; it has double everything (lambda sensors, thermocouples, VVT, datalog). The PR-4 EVO is ideal for 4- and 6-cylinder engines with less extreme requirements.

Does it include warranty and support?

Yes. Pro Tune technical support and a 1-year warranty (90-day statutory warranty + 9-month contractual warranty), as set out in the Warranty Terms.
